Commute + Program
San Luis Obispo County Employee's Commute + ProgramThe County of San Luis Obispo encourages its employees to leave their cars at home and choose an alternative for their commute to work. If each employee used an alternative just one or two days per week, it would greatly reduce parking demand, traffic congestion and air pollution. To promote the use of transit, vanpooling, carpooling, biking, teleworking, and walking to work, the County is offering its Commute + Program.
Here is what is offered through the Commute + Program:

Employees who use transit, vanpool, carpool, telework, ride their bike or walk to work can participate in the Commute + Lucky Bucks Incentive Program to earn prizes like movie tickets, gift certificates, free meals at local restaurants, stamps, car washes and other incentives. Just fill out your Commute + monthly calendar (PDF/Excel), recording the days you used a transportation alternative, hand the completed form to your department Employee transportation Coordinator (ETC) and you will be rewarded for leaving your car at home!

Employees who use an alternative for their commute to work are eligible for the Guaranteed Ride Home Program.

Employees who use transit or vanpool can sign up for the Commuter Choice Tax Incentive and have the cost of monthly transit passes or vanpool fees deducted from their paycheck pre-tax. Paying no taxes on the money you spend to ride the bus or vanpool can be up to a 40% savings!

Employees can use customized trip planning services from SLO Rideshare to help research available alternative transportation options.

If you are an employee of San Luis Obispo County, join the Commute + Program...it's easy! Just complete the Commute + registration form (PDF /Word) and give it to your department ETC or fax it to SLO Rideshare at 781-1291. Rideshare will send you a packet of information to get you started based on the program you are interested in trying. Join the hundreds of County employees who use alternative transportation methods on a regular basis. Together we can reduce traffic congestion on our roadways and preserve our air quality!
